Dual Breast Pump – What is a Dual Breast Pump?

Read Customer Reports of Top Rated Breast Pumps

If you are shopping for your first breast pump, chances are you are a little confused and may be having a tough time narrowing down one pump to invest in and use. There certainly are a lot of options out there and many of them are from reputable manufacturers. Pumps come in different styles, come with different features and of course, varying price ranges. So what is a dual breast pump? How does it differ from a regular breast pump?

A dual breast pump is just a term for a pump that comes with two breast cups so that during each pumping session, you are able to extract milk from both breasts simultaneously. The benefits of this are in speeds up the entire process and allows you to cut your pumping time in half.

Some of these pumps will also come with dual suction control. This is a great feature that allows you to select the strength and in some cases the speed of the suction of each breast. If one breast is much fuller than the other, it allows you to set the control to a low setting for the emptier breast and stronger for the fuller one.

There are dual breast pumps in manual styles as well. Many customer reports, however, give these pumps poor ratings. Mostly because it is difficult to create enough suction manually to extract milk from both sides at the same time. Depending on how often you will be using your pump, you need to decide if a manual will be good enough or if you should spend more money for an electric breast pump.
